Apparently FIFA broke with tradition and decided that America's national anthem would be played.

at the final.   Traditionally it is only the anthems of the two finalists that are played.  FIFA have not explained why they allowed America's anthem to be played, or why the anthems of the other two hosts, Mexico and Canada were not played.   Overall the World Cup was great, even though politics distracted from what the event is really supposed to be about.   Trump said he wants America to host it again, but without Mexico and Canada.
