The Burnham Protocol
Posted by aje·
I think it's generally accepted that Andy Burnham is a decent guy, with good values, and regardless of political views he is a genuine Evertonian. We all wish him well.
Therefore, and in anticipation of our new PM wanting to continue to spend some of his time watching Everton and seeing his mates, may I suggest the following protocol:
1. If he decides to watch from a VIP area that's fine. There are probably legitimate security reasons and it might well be more appropriate for the sitting PM to draw attention to our club and our incredible stadium from prime seats. So just treat it as a good thing if he still finds time to attend any matches, wherever he sits.
2. If he decides to continue to utilise his existing season ticket, and it's possible for him to do so, he should be treated with dignity and respect. To the extent to which he might intermingle with his old mates and other fans (in whatever part of the stadium he is in), grabbing a pint at half time is not the time to harass or make a political point.
